This 30km endurance loop will test your aptitude on technical terrain. You also get the added excitement of 2 rappels, one of which takes you ring side at the magnificent Paria Fall.
Most hiking enthusiasts in T&T have done the hike to Paria Waterfall; doing the 'twisted' version however is another story! For this one, we start on the fringes of Brasso Seco Village. This small rural village was established in the early 1900's as a Cocoa and Coffee plantation; today you can still see evidence of this.
In general, the area is surrounded by pristine rain forest, waterfalls and crystal clear rivers. When it comes to fauna, the forest here is abundant with birds, insects mammals and reptiles. On the Twister Tour, there is a significant chance of spotting some of these... especially your typical four legged furry forest friends.
From our start point, at just about 3km/1.9mi in, we make our descent to the Paria River. From here she twists and turns down river for approximately14km. The initial segment starts off quite scenic and relaxing, about half way into it however, you will certainly get ample opportunity to express yourself on some fairly technical terrain along the river.
There are 2 rappel pitches on this adventure. The first one is only about 20m/65ft, but don't underestimate it, for it places you in the midst of some heavy flowing water. Following this, our journey continues through some impressive gorges, as we approach the main fall for the feature rappel...ring side at the Paria Waterfall! After your well deserved lunch break at the falls, its now a "no guts no glory" 13km/8mi trek back to your start point. Book your ice bath and massage as a pit stop on your journey home!
If you do not have previous experience using rappelling/rock climbing gear and not familiar with the techniques used for this activity, you will be required to participate in the CoolBlue Adventures Rock Climbing/Rappelling Experience (see our listings), prior to embarking on this expedition.
